BOYS: FRIEND OR FRENEMY?

I had two best friends in high school. We were inseparable, but totally different from one another - especially when it came to how we dealt with boys. One was a total boy hater, and the other was completely boy crazy. I was Ms. Size Medium - not wanting to dive in just yet, but hoping to meet someone special anyway. I wasn't sure i was ready.
Boys were a whole new frontier - scary, exciting, and different.
Thing is I had it all wrong. Instead of worrying whether or not I was ready for a boyfriend, I should've just relaxed and kicked back with my boyfriends. And while beating anyone - girl or boy- at any game is pretty great, beating a super athletic boy at a sport is infinitely more satisfying. (Okay, I admit, it was basketball.)

Here's my theory:
Yes, boys are different from us girls, but thats exactly why being friends with them is one of the best parts of growing up. Because they're so different from us, just hanging out with them lets see the world and ourselves in a whole new light. They challenge us to try new things and beat them, they appreciate in us the things we take for granted like how were such good listeners and give the best advice, and they encourage us to step out of our comfort zone.

And thats what this all about - celebrating the differences between boys and girls, and learning from them. There were so many worthy boys who were eager to know us better, girls. :)
